January 23, 2012: Guidelines are now posted for 2012 Preservation Assistance Grants for Smaller Institutions from the National Endowment for the Humanities. Receive up to $6,000 for preservation planning and implementation of small projects that strengthen collections care overall. Application Deadline: May 1, 2012. November 14, 2011: The Samuel H. Kress Foundation has awarded a $145,000 grant to the Balboa Park Online Collaborative (BPOC) and the Balboa Art Conservation Center (BACC) for ConservationReel, a project to gather and present video on art conservation and collections care in an online resource intended for museum and conservation professionals, students, and interested members of the general public. November 7, 2011: BACC is pleased to announce the completion of five Focus on Collections Care workshop series with generous funding from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). A big thanks to our hosts at the Arizona State University Art Museum, the University of Washington Libraries, Balboa Park, the Crocker Art Museum, and the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon. Additional thanks go out to all the great participants that joined us from 137 libraries, museums, and archives; to all our instructors; and to our collaborators, including NEDCC, Amigos Library Services, and Image Permanence Institute.

May 18, 2011: The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) recently announced it has awarded BACC a 2011 Access to Artistic Excellence grant in support of a post-graduate internship in paintings conservation. Designed to provide a broad range of supervised and guided treatment experiences, the program allows the intern to gain greater proficiency and experience in the areas of examination, treatment, and analysis.
