Carla MillerAssociate conservator of objectsCarla holds a BSc with honors in Cultural Heritage Conservation from the Escuela de Conservación y Restauración de Occidente in Guadalajara, Mexico. In 2015, she completed a research stay at the Laboratory for Diagnosis of Works of Art (LDOA) at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (IIE-UNAM) in Mexico City. During this time, she specialized in technical art history, utilizing various microscopy and imaging techniques to identify pigments.
In 2016, Carla undertook an internship in Outdoor Metal Sculpture Conservation at the Rockefeller Brothers Fund Pocantico Center, further honing her expertise in conserving large-format outdoor sculptures. She also completed a 10-week Andrew W. Mellon Foundation Internship in Conservation at the Conservation Department of the National Museum of the American Indian, Cultural Resources Center (CRC) in Suitland, MD. Over the past nine years, Carla has gained experience working in museums and private practice in Mexico, where she has contributed to the preservation of cultural heritage. She is passionate about working with communities and audiences to broaden the understanding of conservation and how everyone contributes to preserving tangible and intangible heritage. Carla is committed to raising awareness about the importance of cultural heritage and believes in the power of education to inspire future generations. |
