Public outreach

Workshops for InstitutionS

BACC can create on-site, customized educational workshops available to your institution or professional association through our institution-based training program.

A wide range of topics are offered, from those appropriate for institutions just embarking on a preservation planning program to specific, issue-oriented sessions geared to institutions that are further along in their conservation program. Just a few of the current topics available for training are:
  • Basic Condition Reporting for Collections Managers
  • Biological Attack! Pests and Mold
  • Care of Collections: Paintings and Painted Surfaces
  • Creating an Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan for Collections
  • Disaster Recovery for Collections: The First 24-48 Hours After a Disaster

Lectures & Talks

BACC staff regularly present to smaller groups such as professional or volunteer organizations, continuing education students, museum docents and more. We can work with you to create a talk on a topic that suits your needs. Past topics have included What is Art Conservation?, Art and Science in
Conservation, 14th Century Italian Panel Painting Techniques for museum docents, and Condition Reporting and Art Handling for small museums and galleries.
