5 things about elise cabral-mellon pre-program fellow in                  paper conservation.

  • Elise is our Pre-Program Mellon Fellow in Paper Conservation. She has been working closely alongside Senior Conservator of Paper, Sara Bisi on treatments and projects in our Paper Lab. Pre Program Internships and Fellowships are an integral part of the journey to exploring the world of professional conservators. Following her fellowship with BACC, Elise will be 
  • Elise is a San Diego Native and has fond memories of visiting Balboa Park (where BACC is located).  Point Loma and San Diego's many beaches are among some of her favorite things. 
  • The museums here in San Diego helped spark her interest in Art and Art History. Elise decided to pursue a career in Art Conservation during her Art History Graduate studies in Chicago. 
  • Art wise Elise things is into all things Modern, Contemporary and 20th Century related. When asked why she focused on Paper for her fellowship ,Elise said works on paper and paper artifacts spoke to the variety and beauty of everyday life. 
  • Did you know conservators typically travel to several cities on their journey from undergrad, to a graduate level conservation program, and on to internships and fellowships before joining the field professionally? Elise says exploring the geography of each stop on her journey and focusing on the specialized nature of each Center and region makes this process very intriguing.
